2011 Training Begins
By Gary Coy
Director of Training
The training schedule (dates/times/venues) for the 2011 season is now set.
Just as in years past, our training will be conducted on Thursdays and Saturdays in February with an additional training session for our Apprentices on the last Thursday of January.
Tier training leaders are: College, Dave Natali; A Tier, Brian Gooch; B Tier, Dave Warner; C Tier and Apprentice, Erik Nilson and Scott Johnson.
Tracking of training attendance will be a point of emphasis to ensure that all who have earned the incentive for assessment reduction for training attendance receive it. The Board of Directors determined that the assessment reduction will once again be 2% reduction for 100% attendance and 1% reduction for 75% attendance.
The Board also determined there would be a minimum training attendance requirement in order to be assigned games. Those requirements are specific for each tier:
- College umpires must attend at least one of the college sessions offered (attendance at the NCAA Clinic satisfies this requirement) in addition to attending at least one of the A Tier training sessions.
- A Tier umpires must attend at least two (2) of the three (3) sessions offered.
- B Tier umpires must attend at least three (3) of the five (5) sessions offered.
- C Tier umpires must attend at least five (5) of the nine (9) sessions offered.
- Apprentice umpires must attend at least eight (8) of the eleven (11) sessions offered.
Please see the appropriate training schedule for your specific tier clicking on the “Training” tab.
