Gary Coy I have been a member of NBUA since 1994 and a Board member since 2001. I am once again humbly requesting your endorsement and support for another term to serve you on the Board of Directors. I have served during some very exciting times for our Association. The Association is in the finest condition it has ever been in from assigning, financials, training, and evaluations, to our communications with the membership via our website and the regular increases in game fees for our umpires. We are continuing to increase the number of clients we serve and thanks to the extraordinary work of Scott Johnson, our recruitment of new umpires have been nothing short of phenomenal for the past 4 years. During my tenure on the Board, we have increased the opportunities for our members to work high school playoffs / regionals and opportunities for our members to work games at Safeco Field. Also during my tenure, we have implemented a policy of assigning at least two umpires to every game we work and instituted a Member Service Agreement. I have served on several committees during my terms on the Board. Among those committees are, several Special Judicial Committees, training committee, election committee (chairman and committee member), evaluations committee (chairman past 5 years), and bylaw committee chairman. I also was chairman of the Jim Evans Northwest Clinic committee in 2004. One of the most rewarding accomplishments during my tenure on the board has been being a member of the search committee for a new assignor and then ultimately recommending that Leslie Fitzpatrick be hired as our assignor. My area of specific responsibility for the last 5 years has been our evaluation program. There have been minor modifications each year in order to provide more stability to the program and to assist the membership in understanding the program. It continues to evolve each year as we discover new ways to fairly and more accurately evaluate the on field performance of our members in an ongoing effort to assist them in becoming better umpires. If you see fit to return me to YOUR Board for another term, my commitment to you is: Do the right thing ... the right way ... for the right reasons . Advocate strongly for a more open Board and transparency to the membership in the way we conduct business and make decisions on YOUR behalf. To ensure that YOUR Board conducts business not only as outlined in our Articles of Incorporation, bylaws, and policies and procedures, but also in the spirit and intent of those documents as well. Most important of all, I pledge to you all that I will NEVER betray the trust you have placed in me as YOUR representative on YOUR board and will always be truthful with you. With your vote and your help, we can continue to move this Association forward in our continuing quest to remain the premier umpiring Association in the Pacific Northwest. If you have ANY questions, comments, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact me anytime at (206) 683-2349 or via E-mail at gary901c@comcast.net |
