Rich Johnson

Fellow NBUA Members:

It has been an honor to serve as a member of the NBUA Board of Directors for the past two years and as your President during the 2006 season.   NBUA remains one of the premier amateur umpiring associations in the United States and I am proud to be a part of this great organization.

During my first term on the Board I have played a leadership role in the administration of the organization and have been instrumental in achieving the following Association objectives:   strategic planning, two man junior varsity assignments, collection of overdue accounts receivables, annual budgeting and financial statements, reduced member assessments, higher game fees, contract accounting services, improved customer relations, customer and assignor contracts, assignor back-up plan, member service agreement and membership requirements, increased member recognition and involvement, and reinstitution of the annual banquet and golf tournament.   Let me make it clear that these accomplishments are a product of the excellent work of the current Board of Directors and not me alone.

While much has been accomplished over the past two years, there is still plenty of work to be done and areas for improvement and growth.   As an organization we must continue to recognize and reward our members for their dedication to the game of baseball and their loyalty to the Northwest Baseball Umpires Association.   We must ensure that our members receive fair and adequate compensation for their work and that our customers get well trained, high quality umpires to officiate their games.   We must maintain the organizations financial strength and protect the Association from unfair encroachment upon our business relationships.   If reelected, I will work diligently to achieve these objectives.   I believe that my advanced academic achievements and more than 20 years experience as a professional administrator make me uniquely qualified to serve on your Board.

I will not campaign against the other candidates in this election.   We are very fortunate to have such an outstanding list of qualified candidates.   I want to thank each of them for their willingness to take on the responsibilities associated with being on the Board of Directors and strongly encourage you to vote for the other candidates.   They are all good men and experienced umpires.

Thank you for your support and your continued loyalty and commitment to the NBUA.
