Mike Carter
I am running for the Board of Directors because of the incident where a member of the Board of
Directors mishandled association funds and the Board failed to take proper and timely action to
sanction the board member for his indiscretion in handling association funds.
It is my impression that the mishandling of funds occured at the start of the 2004 season and funds
were not recovered by the association until the end of the 2004 season. This means that your Board
of Directors was aware that association funds had been mishandled and they did nothing. If good
men do nothing evil will triumph.
Why has it taken a year for the Board to form an investigation committee to look into this
incident? If all of the facts are in, why hasn’t the Board acted on the facts? Why hasn’t the
membership been informed of the facts? What actions does the Board intend on taking to sanction
the member for his indiscretions?
The Board’s first responsibility is to the association and to manage the affairs of the association
properly not show loyalty to a Board Member who was somewhat indiscrete in performing his duties.
I am a full charge bookkeeper pursuing a professional designation as a Certified Bookkeeper, and
when I am elected I will want to become NBUA Treasurer to establish internal controls to insure
that the association monies are properly accounted for in a timely fashion. Also as a board member
I will work for having the board function and operate in a more open environment by allowing
members to attend board meetings if they desire.
Ladies and Gentlemen this is your association, and I would be honored to be elected as a board
member serve NBUA.
