Rich Johnson
My name is Rich Johnson and I approve this message.
I am not running against any of the candidates for the open Board positions. They are all qualified candidates, good umpires, and dedicated to the Northwest Baseball Umpires Association. I strongly encourage you to vote for them!
I am proud to be a member of the NBUA. My involvement with the organization spans over three decades (70's, 80's, and 00's). I have umpired all levels of baseball serviced by NBUA and have observed the organization as it has grown and evolved over time. I am ready, willing, and able to serve as a member of the NBUA Board of Directors.
I am a professional administrator in the judicial branch of government with strengths in project planning and implementation, budget, organizational development, and technology. I believe my 20 years of experience as a manager and administrator in large organizations would be beneficial to our Board and the organization.
Our association needs to actively plan for the future in terms of recruitment and retention, technology, contract negotiation, information management, and organizational development. We need to focus on the needs of our internal customers (the membership), not just our external customers (the leagues). Our Board must be aggressive advocates for our membership. Improving communication, applying technology, and enhancing membership benefits will ensure that our organization will continue to grow and prosper.
2004 was a good year for NBUA. Leslie did a great job and we utilized technology to better serve our membership. Our Board of Directors worked hard and did an excellent job. I plan to be a member of this association and umpire baseball for many years to come. If elected to the Board I will be honored to serve you. If not, all I can say is "THANK YOU!"
