Rich Connors
I was appointed as a member of the NBUA Board of Directors in September, 2003 to complete the unexpired term of Tim Stevens. I accepted this responsibility with no particular agenda, but a desire to make a positive difference, to help NBUA solve its assigning and other problems and grow into the 21 st century. I believe I have been an important and contributing member on our Board over the last twelve months.
I have listed some of my qualifications below:
- Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, Villanova University
- United States Naval officer--active duty from 1969 through 1971
- I have owned my own businesses since 1972--I currently own and operate SeaTacPark.com , a 1,400-space off-airport parking lot in SeaTac, WA
- I began umpiring in 1992 while my boys were in Little League
- I joined NBUA (along with my two sons) in 1997
- I joined the NBUA Board of Directors in September, 2003--unanimously elected Secretary in October, 2003.
- I care!
Why should you vote for me? NBUA has grown into quite a large business. Revenues have grown to the point they approach a half million dollars annually. With this growth come added opportunities, but also added responsibilities. I believe my business experience and communication skills have been a real asset to the NBUA Board this year.
I was appointed Chairman of a committee to look into changes in our accounting and auditing policies. Our committee sought advice from the membership as well as outside professionals to better protect the assets of the association. We developed a recommendation that was unanimously approved by the Board in April, 2004.
What are ideas I would like to pursue if elected ?
- Continue the trend begun this year of more transparency and openness at the Board of Director level
- Develop a long range planning committee to set goals and objectives to enable future growth
- Develop a financial model to evaluate NBUA's fee schedule. The goals are to grow market share and maximize the net fees to our umpires.
I am asking YOU for your vote . If elected, I will continue to work hard to make sure NBUA remains the most respected umpiring organization in the northwest.
