2011 Banquet, Awards & Promotions

The Newcastle Golf Club was the new venue for the Northwest Baseball Association's annual banquet and golf tournament held Saturday, October 1. Highlights of the evening included the presentations of year end awards, tier promotions and guest speaker Tom Lampkin.

Scott Johnson was presented with the George Eshelman (Umpire of the Year) Award, while Kris Carlstedt and Leslie Fitzpatrick took home Distinguished Service awards. Mickey Whittaker was given Rookie of the Year Award. Assignor awards went to Chuck McQuery (A Tier), Peyton Coffin (B) and Chris Hinton (C). Nevin Garthwaite and the Kent Bulldogs Baseball Club were awarded the Jack Miller Customer of the Year Award for 2010.

More than 50 golfers participated in the tournament at the world renowned Newcastle golf course. The foursome of Randy Johnson, Brett Johnson, Casey Pettersen, and Randy Ebberson were crowned the champions of the “Assignors Cup” with a score of -9 (63).

The guest speaker, Tom Lampkin, capped off the evening with funny stories including stories of Lou Piniella and even had a funny story involving George Eshelman.  It was a fun packed day with a larger crowd than in year's past.
