By Jay Neff
Member Services Committee Chairman
The Northwest Baseball Umpires Association held its Annual Meeting on October 5 at the WIAA headquarters in Renton where the results of the Board elections were announced. All nine of the 2010 Board candidates were in attendance along with three interested members.
Elected to 2-year terms were Brian Gooch, Rich Johnson, Hank Margerson, Jay Neff and Fritz Timm. Chris Claflin, Mark Clough, Peyton Clough, and Rick Houser finished just behind these five in the tally.
Following the adjournment of the Annual Meeting the Election Committee convened, certified and announced the results of the elections. There were 132 votes cast electronically.
In a sudden change of events, Director Mike Brancheau tendered his resignation immediately following the election due to health and personal reasons. The Board decided to use the next candidate in line as chosen by the electorate as it was so close to the election process.
