Nomination/Election Committee Update
 
Carlstedt added to NBUA ballot

The NBUA Nomination/Election committee has completed its nomination process with the addition of Kris Carlstedt to the NBUA Board of Directors election ballot. He joins John Philbeck, Gary Coy and Mike Brancheau who were previously nominated and qualified.
 
In accordance with NBUA Bylaws, the Nomination Committee is responsible for “soliciting nominations, qualifying nominees and for conducting the election” (4.1a) .  The traditional method of soliciting nominations involves committee members talking to potential candidates and an open nomination period when prospective candidates submit their names and candidate statements for inclusion on the ballot.
 
This year the open nomination period/process failed to provide enough candidates to fill the four seats up for election.  In response to this situation the Nomination/Election Committee solicited and qualified the fourth candidate for the 2007 election. The committee believes that it is in the best interest of the Association to have a full slate of candidates for the election.   The committee’s selection of Carlstedt was based on a number of factors including but not limited to his nomination and willingness to serve in the last two elections, service on the finance committee for the last two years, having the highest non-elected vote total in the last election (of those not currently on the ballot), and possessing the knowledge and skill sets necessary to support current and future BOD priorities and issues.

Our Bylaws also include a provision for write-in candidates.  Section 3.4 states that the “Election of directors shall be accomplished using a single ballot on which the nominees, selected by the Nominating Committee, are listed and on which a space is provided for write-in candidates whom if elected have indicated a willingness to serve.”   Please note that any write-in candidates must have indicated a willingness to serve.
