Five Positions Open on NBUA Board

Candidate filing deadline Sept. 17

Election season is upon us in more ways than one. Sure, we're electing a new president, governor, representatives and a senator, but NBUA umpires will be embroiled in their own brand of politics soon. October 25, 2004 is the day NBUA umpires will go to the polls to elect five board members to two-year terms.

Those individuals who seek election to a board position are required to notify the election's committee chairman, Gavin Anderson. Candidates must declare their candidacy in writing by 5 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2004. Members may either address their letter to Anderson's home address, or they may e-mail him at refgav@yahoo.com . Candidates will be notified by the Nomination/Elections Committee that their letters have been received.

Once you have notified the chairman of your intent to run, you will be given information on how to submit your statement to be included in the 2004 NBUA Voter's Guide. Statements will be listed in the voter's guide in the order in which they are received. It's important to note that the word count for the statement has been increased to 400 words.

Current board members whose term is ending in 2004 include: Rich Connors, Steve Hilgendorf, Jack Miller, Dave Natali and Jay Neff.

Please note that the official notice of election will be released next week indicating both time and place of the election.
