NBUA Umpires to Work Inaugural Mariners Cup Games at Safeco Field

On Saturday August 12 and Sunday August 13 three games will be played at Safeco Field between select teams of Northwest area "top prospects" and a similar team from Southern California. These will be top level all star teams with most players being incoming high school seniors.

NBUA is proud to support this event, which is a Mariners Care Charity function. Twelve of our member umpires will be working these three games as part of four man crews. All umpires are donating their services on behalf of Mariners Care.

Selected to be part of this special event for 2006 are Dave Warner, John Philbeck, Greg Chafe, Mike Brancheau, Bill Lewis, Bill Fitgerald, Rick O'Neill, Marc Forsythe, Jay Neff, Mike Carter, Steve Lynch, Bob Link, and Kris Carlstedt.

"We are pleased to be part of this exciting baseball event in Seattle," said President Rich Johnson.   "We hope this will be an annual event and that many more of our members will have a chance to work at Safeco Field. This is a great opportunity for us to reward some hard working umpires who contribute greatly to the success or our Association."

A double header will be played Saturday, August 12 beginning at noon. A single game will be played on Sunday, August 13 at 11 a.m.
