Hertzog gets the call
NBUA's Brian Hertzog was trying to follow his dream of becoming a professional umpire. He attended Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpires, finished in the top 25 and went to PBUC. Except this year there were no jobs to be had. No student would get an offer as long as the minor league umpires were on strike. Well, the strike ended last week and yesterday Brian got the call.
Brian will report to Arizona Rookie League in Scotsdale AZ on June 21. Due to a rash of retirements following the strike, there remains a chance Brian will work closer to home in the Northwest League.
Contratulations Brian!
