Membership Liaison Position Statement

Objective:

  • To provide a resource for membership to present ideas, suggestions, complaints, criticisms and other communication to the NBUA Board of Directors
  • To provide an efficient way to direct membership communication to the proper people on the board
  • To provide a method for the membership to bring issues in an anonymous manner if so desired
  • To serve as an advocate for the membership
  • To use membership and board time more efficiently and effectively

Expectations:

  • The Liaison will focus on serving the membership and facilitate communication with the board
  • The Liaison will handle himself/herself in a professional and constructive manner
  • The Liaison will use good judgment and not bring frivolous matters to the board
  • The Liaison will show understanding and compassion for membership concerns, however shall not attempt to amplify concerns

Membership interface:

  • The Liaison shall make himself/herself available to all members in good standing of NBUA
  • The Liaison shall exercise outstanding "listening" skills and attempt to fully understand the members request, idea or issue
  • After communicating with the board on any member request, idea or issue the Liaison shall communicate to the member

Board of Directors interface:

  • The Liaison shall bring all relevant issues the appropriate board member(s)
  • If the issue is of sufficient importance, the Liaison may request from the President or Vice President of NBUA to be given adequate time on the agenda of the next regularly scheduled board of directors meeting.

Candidate (s) Profile / Requirements:

  • Candidates for this position should have a minimum of five years with NBUA
  • At minimum the candidate must be a "B" level umpire
  • Candidate should have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate must have the respect of both the membership and of the board
