Ken Sack Resigns from BOD
by Rich Connors
Ken Sack, the Board Member with the longest continuous tenure of any current Director, has resigned. Mr. Sack owns and operates a computer consulting business, and his business interests have demanded more and more of his time in the last six months. He said he did not think it was fair to the Association for him to take up a spot on the Board when he could not devote the time he would have liked for his fellow umpires. Sack has served the Association as a Director for almost eight years. He was the Treasurer until October, 2004. As a Board Member, he was known for promoting fiscal discipline. While usually quiet during Board Meetings, he could get vocal and even feisty if the discussion involved an issue regarding the reputation of NBUA.
When asked his proudest moment as a director, Sack replied "getting the 1099's out correctly and promptly." While that's not the most glamorous job, it's one we can all appreciate.
Sack said he hopes the BOD will find the best replacement possible. He said he thought the BOD was moving in the right direction, and hoped the BOD would find a great Board Member, not necessarily a great umpire, as his replacement.
Sack said he is looking forward to umpiring when he can this year. When you see him on the field this year, thank him for his service.
