Member Services Agreement Implemented

By Vern Dahl
By-Laws Committee Chairman

Starting this season, NBUA is implementing a Member Services Agreement. This agreement spells out the responsibilities and expectations for both the member and for the NBUA. We know many of you who officiate other sports are familiar with these agreements, and several have wondered why NBUA didn't have one – well now we do. The agreement was approved by the Board of Directors at the December meeting.

You can download and print this document here (You will need to use the association-wide user name and password). We will also have hard copy agreements and will be collecting signed agreements at the January 24 General Meeting, at all training meetings and at the March 4 Business Meeting.

To work games for NBUA this season a signed membership agreement must be on file with NBUA. I would like to encourage everyone to get your signed agreement on file as soon as possible so you don't miss any of those early games. During the last week of February (before our March 4 meeting) we will send an email confirming your agreement is on file or letting you know we don't have it.

For our umpires who have not turned 18 years of age by March 1, 2006, in addition to your signature we also need the signature of a parent or legal guardian. Additionally, those under 18 will need a completed and signed "Authorization for Medical Treatment of a Minor" on file prior to being eligible to do games. That form can be downloaded here.

If it would be easier for you to mail your Agreement, it can be mailed to:

A special thanks goes out to John Philbeck and Henry Altschuler for their work in drafting these agreements.
